Integration
Integrating your existing platforms and workflows is crucial when setting up cloud-based DAM. Ensuring compatibility with the applications you already use will help you to be efficient and minimize disruption when implementing.
Migration
Plan to make sure the migration of your current archive is smooth and successful (even if these are folders on your desktops or USB’s). You want to minimise the risk of data loss or corruption during the period.
Usability
You want your team to use the platform you’re either building or buying right?! When building the solution make sure it’s intuitive and robust to take a hit - people will try and break it. If you can, try and tailor the interface to each team’s specific needs such as; The Brand team having direct access upon logging on, to all the brand guidelines, fonts, lockups etc. ****Make it easy to navigate, search and access all those beautiful assets you’ve put inside the DAM.
Backups
Back it up again, and again and again somewhere else. The purpose of a DAM is to have one location for everything - CORRECT & INCORRECT. ****Do your research and make sure the platform has a direct backup of all your content, accessible to any global or super admin 24/7.
You need to ensure redundancy, data loss and failures which will give you peace of mind in the long run. We aren’t just talking about thousands of assets being removed somehow, we’re talking down to specific assets being deleted by accident. Yes, it happens.
